"By the way, what is the tango?"

It is neither easy to classify nor to describe this phenomenon we call the tango. We can say, however, that it is a form of expression that best described the state of mind of a certain part of the population at a certain period in its history that no other form of expression was able to achieve.

" The tango is a sad thought that can be danced. " said the poet-philosopher of this dance, Enrique Santos Discepolo. We can find, in numerous writings, different elements that influenced this art form. One is Distance; an unbuilt bridge that seperates our daily reality from that of our hopes and of our dreams. The other one is Nostalgia; the sadness and loneliness of one estranged from his homeland, and the bitterness that this can entail.

Thus, the tango came into being; the man from Buenos Aires was able to find what human sexuality lacked. For him, it was his way of being with a woman, a way to be together, a couple, a satisfaction beyond sexual consumption.

The tango allows the two individuals to understand one another without having to utter a single word - to understand one another in perfect harmony and thus fused into a single entity, to create a common story within the span of...a tango.
